As we drove into the gorgeous Arboretum, one of the top visitor attractions of Minnesota, US, my heart skipped a beat. It was a beautiful sunny day to explore gardens, sculptures, woodlands, walkways and trails.
Smell, touch, feel, sights and sounds of nature filled our senses as all shades of green interspersed with colours dominated the landscape. Minnesota is more than glorious in Summers after savage and challenging winters, it is stunning!
Such sublime sights always inspires poetry in a lover of literature. Therefore, I couldn’t help chanting some famous lines by great nature poets.
Do check out the pictures, dear confidantes, and may be you can recite the poetic lines too…
When I see birches bend to left and right Across the lines of straighter darker trees, I like to think some boy’s been swinging down…. Robert Frost
Tall and erect, with tempting clusters hung, A virgin scene!–A little while I stood… William Wordsworth
Never mind silent fields— Here is a little forest, Whose leaf is ever green; Here is a brighter garden, Where not a frost has been… Emily Dickinson
Yet, if you enter the woods, Of a summer evening late, When the night-air cools on the trout-ring’d pools ,Where the otter whistles his mate… Rudyard Kipling
Hot midsummer’s petted crone, Sweet to me thy drowsy tune, Telling of countless sunny hours, Long days, and solid banks of flowers… RW Emerson
The poetry of earth is never dead: When all the birds are faint with the hot sun, And hide in cooling trees, a voice will run, From hedge to hedge about the new-mown mead… John Keats
I couldn’t help thinking as we took the exit to Arboretum that nature still dwells in some places on Earth. It hasn’t taken leave of mankind as yet!
The poetry of earth is never dead:
When all the birds are faint with the hot sun,
And hide in cooling trees, a voice will run
From hedge to hedge about the new-mown mead;

Wow!! this afternoon I was running late for work and normally when I am on time, the nestlings are arguing with their mom for their siesta but by the time I walked on that street…it was silent safe for an occasion chirp from tree to tree. Cheryl-Lynn

willows weep with joy
last sights of nature’s beauty
sun dips below
silent nestlings tucked in
robin does her last round

A beautiful album of pics, Shivangi, interspersed with memorable poetry. The Minnesota greens remind me of the approach road to my school surrounded by Arabian sea on one side and lush coconut palms on the other. It also brings to mind the poem by Charles Kingley, “When all the world is young lad, / And all the trees are green; / And every goose a swan, lad, / And every lass a queen; / Then hey for boot and horse, lad, / And round the world away; / Young blood must have its course, lad, / And every dog his day. / When all the world is old, lad, / And all the trees are brown, / And all the sport is stale, lad, / And all the wheels run down; / Creep home, and take your place there, / The spent and maimed among: / God grant you find one face there, / You loved when all was young”. Just sing these lines as I did while quoting it for you….best wishes.

I thought you are from there PJ just like Millie. Your works feel very English may be! Sorry to have misunderstood. May I ask, where are you from. If you don’t want to reveal that’s okay too! Lot’s of love always!

LOL! I didn’t realize my writing seemed English. I have never been to England. I live in the southwest region of the USA. The Four Corners region. (The corner where the four states meet – Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico).
